Gary and Rachel at the Hundred House

Oh Autumn, you cheeky monkey. Sunny and warm forever and then suddenly, Bam! All the rain.

Pfft, cared we not, for Autumn is also the season of cosy, comfy, candlelight and er…cool as flip. Like this wedding! The lovely Hundred House in Shropshire has long been a favourite of mine and with them having just finished building their brand new Garden Room, it’s now off-the-charts perfect. I was lucky enough to be at the first wedding to use the new space and boy, does it deliver.

From the marquee being taken down to Rachel & Gary’s wedding was exactly 6 weeks and with a team of over 35 tradesmen from Custom Oak plus members of the Hundred House team, they pulled out every single stop to be ready on time.

I had a chat with lovely Jo (from the venue) who told me that she and groom Gary both go to boxing classes in the same Tithe barn that holds the hotel’s wedding ceremonies. The Monday before the wedding she sparred with Gary for an hour and was terrified she would accidentally hit him and give him a shiner for the wedding. Gary, if you’re reading this - and honestly why would you, I don’t think anyone really does - she absolutely pulled those punches! ;)

I was only needed for a shorter day but we managed to pack in a whole lotta wedding in the time I was there. Our couple gathered all their favourite family and friends around them and as nobody wanted to do a lot of posed nonsense or go out in the rain, we cracked on with the whole ‘just enjoy your own wedding day’ approach with only a few close family groups in the Garden Room. A cheeky bit of first dance ‘practice’ meant that I didn’t miss out on that little bit of dancefloor gubbins either.

Have a look why dontcha. Click to view in a slideshow thingummy….
