Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Yes. Yes I shall. Because not only are we in Shakespeareton but it was also really, really bloody warm yesterday for Dionne and Sean’s wedding…Temps in the 30s and the whole of Stratford-Upon-Avon to muck about in? Sounds like a perfect day to me :)

When you marry in the register office on Henley Street, you’re getting wed right next door to Shakespeare’s birthplace which is already pretty flipping cool. You get tipped out right into the tourist-bustle of Stratford where no confetti is allowed (quite right really) so D&S opted for a ribbon exit instead which I am a HUGE fan of. With a handy ice cream cart right outside (that lovely ice cream vendor was an absolute legend by the way ) we decided it was way too hot to to do anything too organised (good) and go for ice creams and then to the nearest pub for a pint or two instead. That meant the guests could stay as comfy as possible before it was time to go on to the dinner venue a little later. It was an unsurprisingly popular decision.

Dionne and Sean led us, ice creams in hand, down towards the river with tourists and locals shouting congratulations like we were in a flipping Richard Curtis movie. We rolled up unannounced at the pretty canal and riverside Red Lion pub with its beer garden looking nice and roomy with some lovely shade, and they were brilliant, welcoming us in as we commandeered the bar.

After a few shots with the wedding party, we headed off to the completely gorgeous Woodsman Restaurant (not unannounced - this was their actual venue) for a few family pics in the garden and then dinner. I was only needed for a my 3 hour Cats Whiskers package so that was me off - but what a perfect day. Loved every minute. They are having part two celebrations today in Bewdley so the party continues…
